How to Book an Affordable Airline Ticket

🕰️ Best Time to Book:

  • Domestic Flights (U.S.):
Book 1 to 3 months in advance. For peak seasons (summer, holidays), book 3 to 6 months ahead.

  • International Flights:
Book 2 to 8 months in advance, depending on the destination and season.

📅 Best Days to Check/Book:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday — airlines often release deals early in the week (especially Monday night/Tuesday morning), and midweek is generally when prices are lower.

  • Avoid booking on weekends, especially Sunday — prices can be higher due to increased demand.

🛫 Best Days to Fly:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday usually have the cheapest fares.

  • Fridays and Sundays are typically the most expensive days to fly.

📉 Use Fare Alerts:

Tools like Google Flights can show you flight options for comparison.

💰 Purchase Tickets:

Consider credit card promotions offering sign up bonuses, rebates, or extra flight miles! I saved $500 on my round-trip ticket to Thailand with the American Express Gold card! The trip before that I saved $200 using the Chase Freedom Flex card! Read the promotional details of each card and decide which offers the better travel benefits for you!

Time of Day:

Prices can fluctuate throughout the day, but checking early in the morning or late at night can sometimes show better deals.
